| Geoffrey Parkin, currently
a Masters student at the Royal Northern College of Music, was a finalist
in the 2002 Lincolnshire Young Soloist Competition, narrowly missing
the first prize. This concert provides the ideal opportunity to invite
Geoffrey as soloist. He graduated from the University of Birmingham
in 2000 and won the Zochonis Scholarship at the RNCM last year. Geoffrey
has played with the National Youth Wind Orchestra and the Orchestras
of the University of Birmingham and the RNCM, as well as broadcasting
on both BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Geoffrey is a member of the Cefiro
Clarinet Quartet, holds an advanced certificate in piano performance
and teaches at Newcastle-under-Lyme school. |
