| Nick Mercer was born in Huddersfield
and trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. He has acted at
the Royal National Theatre, Young Vic, Old Vic and repertory theatres
up and down the country; he also toured Africa in a production of Macbeth.
Television work includes POIROT, ALL TOGETHER NOW, LAST OF THE SUMMER
WINE, HI DE HI and THREE UP TWO DOWN. He has appeared frequently in
plays and programmes for BBC Radio - most recently a reading of Magnus
Mills' novel ALL QUIET ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. |
| Nick specialises in voice
work and children's broadcasting - having been a presenter of PLAY SCHOOL,
and also appearing for the last eight years as Charlie Grindle, presenting
PLAYDAYS. He also works as a television puppeteer, and work in this
field has included the eponymous role in GREEN CLAWS (a favourite which
has been screened for over 13 years) FUN SONG FACTORY and ST TIGGYWINKLES.
He is currently filming the third series of THE STORY MAKERS for BBC/CBeebies,
in which he plays Jackson and also voices over 150 characters in the
BLUE COW cartoons .
He plays the violin and is
also a keen brass player, having started aged 11 with Meltham Brass
Band, and now (somewhat older - but no wiser) blowing with Croydon Band. |
