| What a great pleasure it
is to welcome back Xue-Wei, the internationally-renowned virtuoso and
dear friend of the NSO. His superlative account of the Brahms Concerto
last season still lives in the memory and no-one will want to miss his
fourth appearance with the orchestra. He has been described in the Guardian
as a "devastating performer, combining formidable technical prowess
with great breadth and variety of expression". Classic CD wrote of his
Tchaikovsky recording, "I was absolutely riveted by this performance
and cannot recall having heard this work played so well on record or
in concert". Wei now lives in the United States where he is making a
success of performing, teaching and giving master-classes. |
