For our first concert of our new season, we explore the wonders of nature in its many forms.

We start with two interpretations of Spring from opposite sides of the channel. Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps, with youthful energy, shimmering textures and playful rhythms captures the very essence of nature awakening, while Delius’s tone poem, On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring invites you to pause, listen and feel the stillness of the countryside.

The music then bursts into a vibrant depiction of human nature and jollity with Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1, a whirlwind of folk dances and infectious rhythms.

Finally, we journey far beyond Earth with Holst’s The Planets. From the relentless power of Mars to the ethereal mystery of Neptune, Holst’s iconic suite is a cosmic voyage that has captivated audiences for over a century.

Join us for a fabulous afternoon of music that begins with the first light of spring and ends among the stars.
