An afternoon of vibrant orchestral music awaits you in our final concert of the season. We open with Dvořák's Carnival Overture, a lively and colourful celebration of energy and joy.

Violinist Alastair Legg joins us as soloist for Korngold's Violin Concerto, one of the twentieth century's most lyrical and virtuosic concertos. A familiar face to many audience members, Alastair performed regularly with the orchestra as a young player before establishing himself as a professional musician. We are delighted to welcome him back for this special performance.

The programme concludes with Florence Price's Symphony No. 1, a powerful and richly melodic work that combines European symphonic traditions with distinctive American influences. Rediscovered and increasingly celebrated in recent years, it offers a thrilling and uplifting finale to the concert and our 51st season.
